Unfortunately……….

Quick post for a very serious matter in the news.

Unfortunately, is when you bake a cake, take a phone call and over bake the cake by five minutes.

Fortunately is when there is no over baking and the cake is perfect.

Unfortunately or fortunately has nothing to do with making a choice to abuse.

Abuse/sexual harassment/rape is an action of corrupted power that is beyond an act of intimacy. It is beyond sex. In fact it has nothing to do with sex. It comes from a dark, muddy place. It is from someone who wants to claim their own power, rather than appreciate or care. It comes from a brain that would prefer to manipulate, scare, belittle and control. It comes from a person so selfish/evil/sick/hateful. It comes from someone who can’t imagine simple touch that is beautiful. Simple words which create a bond. It doesn’t want a bond, it wants fear.

When you have that type of person standing over you - the words unfortunately or fortunately are not racing through your veins.

I hope with everything I have, that someone teaches our new generations what it is to respect themselves in order to do so to others. I hope that finally we find a generation to stop finding excuses to allow hate to wander freely.

There is no perfect victim, only the guilty.
